Why Elect Pat?
Why should you elect me, someone who has never run for political office, never been involved in government at any level? Because I have the experience and the passion that are called for in these times.
I spent twenty years with a variety of Silicon Valley corporations, including Memorex Corporation, Tandem Computers and Seagate Technology. During that time, I focused on building efficient organizations that were responsive to the needs of the business and its customers. My corporate experience will translate well into the business of city government. We need civic leaders who can be responsive to the needs of the people of San Jose, while also being vigilant stewards of the common wealth. It is imperative that we establish an atmosphere of fiscal integrity, where the focus is on delivering quality services at a price that our citizens are willing to pay. I have the experience to do just that.
But it's more than that. My corporate experience gave me a bias for action. Since leaving the corporate world, I have been very active in San Jose's non-profit community, where I have learned the importance of passion for the work that needs to be done. I've been working hard to make a difference in our community. My non-profit work has exposed me to many of the issues that San Jose is facing, issues that we must resolve if San Jose is to continue to improve. Taking part in the leadership of our city is the next logical step for me to take in order to help find solutions to the issues facing District 8, and the city of San Jose as a whole.
I'm excited by the opportunity to help make San Jose a great city. By focusing on improving our quality of life, our city government can make a huge difference in the lives of the people of San Jose. Making this happen will require a return to an honest government led by representatives who believe that the needs of the people of San Jose must come first. I'm committed to that ideal.
I hope that on November 4, 2008 you will give me the opportunity to be your voice on the city council.
Thank you.
