San Jose needs to earn its income just like any business does, because San Jose’s citizens and businesses can always go elsewhere. Our leaders need to work hard to create a city where people want to live, and where businesses want to locate. We need to make sure we are creating a vibrant city with a compelling quality of life. But we need to do so without placing a greater tax burden on our citizens.
We have no choice but to create an atmosphere of fiscal integrity, where the focus is on delivering quality services at a price that the citizens of San Jose are willing to pay. We need to bring accountability back into our city government by setting specific, measureable, attainable, relevant, and timely goals that will allow us to monitor the efficiency and efficacy of our government services.
