Pat on the Issues: Neighborhood Safety
Neighborhood safety isn’t an issue, it’s a requirement. Our children deserve safe places to learn and play. We deserve to feel comfortable in our community. Neighborhood safety is the most important aspect of maintaining and enhancing our quality of life.
As your voice on city council, I’ll make sure that safety is our top priority and work tirelessly to make sure that your ideas are heard. Here are some thoughts that have been expressed by your neighbors.
- Improve San Felipe south of The Villages by widening the Thompson Creek overcrossings and adding bicycle lanes. This will allow enough room for automobiles and bicyclists to safely share this popular route. Add a right turn lane from southbound San Felipe to westbound Farnsworth.
- Increase traffic enforcement around our elementary and middle schools, especially during drop off and pick up times.
- Make sure that we have adequate crossing guards for key intersections near our schools.
I’m sure that you have many other suggestions for enhancing the safety of our community. Please share your thoughts with me by email at Pat@PatWaite.com, or by calling me at 408-564-9980.
